Runway vs. Everyday

With Spring trends on the mind, models have hit the runway in top designers lines expressing the over the top styles that influence consumers everywhere. However, we all know that some of these looks should be left to the models that sport them on the catwalk and thankfully these designs can be seen in a more everyday look.
Some of the top Spring trends of 2009 include exaggerated looks such as Harem pants that really make a statement, to Jumpsuites that look like they belong on trapeze artists. With this in mind here are a few of this seasons fashion trends that can be seen both on the runway and in some of your favorite stores.

1. One-Shoulder Designs.
Whether on the runway or going to a casual party, the one shoulder dress is something that is hitting stores in hopes that buyers will stay trendy while staying cool. The seventies inspired look offers a fresh look to pieces that could easily be passed as average. Runway designer Max Azria, whos design is seen below, described the inspiration for the one-shoulder look from focusing on the body and minimising the clothes.

EVERYDAY

Offered at an affordable everyday price, this version of the runway style is not only eyes catching because of it's design, but the color chioce is also sure to turn heads. http://www.topshop.com/

2. Blazers.
The next look to hit the runway was that if the blazer. Much like the seventies inspired one shoulder pieces that are coming into style this Spring, blazers of all colors and types (including those with shoulder pads) are expected to be seen everywhere. The inspiration comes from the late and well known designer Yevs Saint Laurent whose blazers set that standards in the seventies and are coming back onto the fashion scene this season.

This more realistic and reasonable blazer is simple enough to be worn with a pair of jeans, but still makes a statement in the spring trend of blazers. The colors follow the bright attention grabbing look of the season as well as the design of the jacket.

3. Bold Accessories.
Unlike the usual trendy necklace or bracelet, the Spring of 2009 fashion is introducing bold, bright, and BIG accessories. Whether it be color or size, these accessories are eye catching and sure to turn heads. This is a big turn in fashion for many since we are so used to seeing smaller more simple necklaces despite who the designer may be.

Following A Label- Trina Turk

Fasion Designer Trina Turk

Whether they can afford high end retail or not, many fashion fans such as myself seem to be interested in what top designers offer and the inspiration for their past collections. In my own case, the theme of "you want what you cant have" seems to ring true seeing as to how I can not afford to purchase any high end items, but the designs of Trina Turk have often caught my attention.

Like most designers, Trina Turk had known she wanted to be a fashion designer at a young age and had to start at the very bottom to work her way to the top where she sits now with her expensive yet beautiful pieces and collections. Working and designing swimear for Ocean Pacific as her first job, Trina created mostly junior clothing and soon realized that she herself could start her own business. The start of Trina Turk launched in 1995 when her own designs were sold in high priced stores such as Barney's New York, Saks Fith Avenue, and Fred Segul with her business based in Los Angeles California.
Trina's collections are inspired by the widly mixed ciulture of Los Angeles and the different trends that the individuals of the city sport on a daily basis, as well as the landscape of the area as well. Turk's collections have become popularly known for not only the prints and fit but for Trina's own philosophy of "creating wearable, optimistic fashion that incorporates the best aspects of classic American sportswear." Also sticking to the high end aspect of her line, Trina Turk gets inspiration from the finer things in life and markets her products to those who can afford the cocktail party and life by the poolside look.

For the fashion conscious, trends and styles come in different sizes, different colors, and luckily different prices. Though you may not be getting the same name brand you see on the runway, the look alikes are almost dead on and do not put a dent in the wallet as designer brands often do. Being in college and loving to shop, it is hard to find affordable clothes that still make a statement and are up to par in the fashion world and with the recent economoc recession shopping ahs been kept to a minimun.

One ever popular clothing store that is always fashion savvy and keeps their prices somewhat reasonable is that of Urban Outfittters. From indie trends to simple outfits Urban outfitters offers the latest in style must have's that some of the hippest of celebs are sporting. Much like Urban Outfitters website, Forever 21 offers a daily deal of twenty percent of twenty one different items everyday. Not only does this help those individuals in need of inexpensive clothing, but it keeps customers coming back for more.

Similar to Urban Outfitters tunic shown above, this piece offered by Forever 21 is a great dress for the Spring and is perfect for a laid back atmosphere.
